About cipc

WHO WE ARE

The California Immigrant Policy Center is a non-partisan, non-profit statewide organization founded in 1996. The Policy Center seeks to inform public debate and policy decisions on issues affecting the state’s immigrants and their families in order to improve the quality of life for all Californians.

OUR HISTORY

The Policy Center, formerly the California Immigrant Welfare Collaborative, was founded to respond to the 1996 passage of federal immigration and welfare laws that profoundly affected immigrants. Our statewide organization helps to develop and support pro-immigrant public policy that is aimed at improving the quality of life for all Californians. The California Immigrant Policy Center also provides technical assistance, training and education on immigrant issues.

Our website is a hub of reliable information, advocacy tools, education and research materials regarding California’s immigrants and their economic, social, and demographic impact on our state and nation. In addition, CIPC sponsors an annual legislative outreach day in Sacramento and two regional trainings in Northern and Southern California.

OUR MISSION

The mission of the California Immigrant Policy Center is to protect and enhance the well-being of low-income immigrants in California by advocating for policies that address and respect the needs and contributions of immigrants and their families. The California Immigrant Policy Center provides research, trainings, and public education on immigrant issues affecting all Californians. The California Immigrant Policy Center, a non-profit organization, is a project of the Asian Pacific American Legal Center, the National Immigration Law Center, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, and Services, Immigrant Rights and Education Network (SIREN) of San Jose..
