HEALTH FOR ALL & IMMIGRANT HEALTH POLICY

Part of our advocacy work is to ensure that California creates a healthcare system that works for everyone, regardless of immigration status. CIPC supports SB 4 (Lara) -the “Health for All” Act- which would expand healthcare coverage to Californians who are unjustly excluded from care because of their immigration status. With SB 4, undocumented Californians with low incomes will be able to enroll in full-scope Medi-Cal, regardless of immigration status. Those above the Medi-Cal income limits would be allowed to purchase private insurance plans through Covered California.

HEALTHCARE REFORM AND IMPLEMENTATION IN CALIFORNIA

Starting November 15th, 2014, the second period of Open Enrollment has begun for the Affordable Care Act (known as “Obamacare”) and the state insurance marketplace, “Covered California”. CIPC will continue to closely monitor its implementation in California, including legislation and regulations being developed in Sacramento. In partnership with our allies at the California Pan-Ethnic Health Network and its Having Our Say Coalition, the Western Center on Law and Poverty, and Health Access California, we are working to ensure that immigrants and communities of color are not left behind.
